Term: IAQ (Indoor Air Quality)

The quality of air within buildings, in regard to both health and comfort. Indoor air often contains a complex mixture of contaminants and common pollutants, including smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and molds. The level of carbon dioxide (CO2) in indoor air also relates to IAQ, and is an accepted marker for the wider mix of potential air pollutants. ASHRAE issues guidelines on acceptable IAQ.
